USCAP 2025 DAILY UPDATES DAY 1

Aleks: [00:00:00] Welcome, welcome my digital Pathology trailblazers. I'm reporting to you from USCAP.

Intro: Learn about the newest digital pathology trends in science and industry. Meet the most interesting people in the niche and gain insights relevant to your own projects. Here is where pathology meets computer science. You are listening to the Digital Pathology Podcast with your host, Dr. Alexandra Zuraw.

Aleks: USCAP. This week we're gonna be doing daily live streams at 7:00 AM EST. This is the United States and Canadian Association of Pathologists, and the theme this year is “SEE THE LIGHT” and let me give you a few updates. Nothing really happened yet, but when I was talking to the registration team, I got my badges.

I have my digital pathology place, media badge. And the [00:01:00] MUSE Microscopy exhibitor badge. 'cause I'm here mostly with MUSE. I'm gonna be working with other partners as well with Techcyte. They have new software called Fusion. So we're gonna be creating content about that. And the Roche today, actually they have a new scanner, so we're gonna be making a video about that.

But the main meeting is MUSE Microscopy. So I am wearing MUSE Pin, wearing a Trailblazer team, a pin, and I'm gonna be. Add their booth most of the time when they set up the books. So yesterday, everything looked like a construction site. It's so funny because then you come on day one on day two and everything is ready and it's so polished with carpets, with tools like fancy booths and everything set up and you go there before they're done.

It looks like such a physical construction site. Like really they're building stuff. And if you are on the vendor side, this is your day-to-day [00:02:00] work. But for me it was funny to go behind the scene and see when they're like, they're putting up screens or they're creating temporary rooms and then they're gonna dismantle it all.

So that's funny thing about the conference. So yeah, I go in there, I get my badges, and then I lose my badges. They had the reprint, but the team was so sweet, so nice. I was also asking, okay, how big is the conference? How many people already came? So yesterday when I was, I showed up around like two, three o'clock Eastern time.

They said they already had over 300 people pick up their badge. So that was that. And obviously I was vlogging walking around with my flocking camera. That's why I have a media badge this time as well. And before everybody was there, the names of the booth were already there. So I was walking around and I'm [00:03:00] like, oh, this is, I work with this company.

This is Digital Pathology Company that is a digital pathology company. Obviously this is the biggest meeting. Biggest pathology meeting in North America at least, if not in the world. So the total number of people that they're expecting this year is over a thousand. 1000. It's the biggest one I was looking.

They have obviously every conference now has add up. When I was like society today, like pathologists in North America, Chinese Association of Pathologists in North America, then next Cytopathology. So anyway. The biggest meeting the vendors wanna be here. But when I look at the portfolio of vendors, also on the sponsor side of pharma anyway.

Pharma is a digital pathology companies are there and I was walking in and I was super happy that a big percentage of digital pathology, they're integral part. It's not just that they go to Path Vision, only, they're integral part of every pathology show that [00:04:00] I have visited last year and Monday is the big day for me.

For MUSE microscopy as well. And I hope you are going join me. You see this on my left? I don't know. Next to this hand I think is this QR code because let me show you what we're gonna be doing tomorrow. I'm doing, and I'm working with my little laptop, so there is the evening on the 24th. This is Monday at five 30 for everybody who is here at USCAP.

They're the exhibitor seminars and MUSE has this exhibitor seminar called Embrace the Future of Digital Pathology. They are a direct to digital imaging company, so they are working on the technology of making diagnostics images without making this not just this. And I would love you to come virtually or in person because they are [00:05:00] gonna be some cool guests.

During this event, let's see if I can show you who the guest is. So Dr. Richard Levinson is gonna be there. Dr. Rao is gonna be there, and his collaborator from China, doctor, they did a massive study in a period of time in China on how this technology can be utilized. Dr. Chandra is gonna be there.

And so Dr. Chandra is from PathGroup. PathGroup is an organization that also is exploring this technology and they're gonna be talking about that. What would it mean for organization as PathGroup, which is a big pathology organization and he's gonna be the CEO of MUSE. You might have seen him on LinkedIn in my post, close to the booth, close to the booth, and close to there is a central USCAP round.

And also for the podcast, I'm gonna recorded into the exhibitor narrow one, [00:06:00] exhibitor seminar one. So I would love to see you there if you are here at USCAP. Let me just come because I'm gonna be hanging out there and I would love to record a digital pathology space. We can have a conversation and I would love gonna have a corner for the Digital Pathology podcast.

Yeah, you can be on the podcast. I would love to showcase. The journeys of digital pathology trailblazers. If you have a poster, let me know, because posters are super fantastic for videos on YouTube to let people know what you are working on. So if you are open to being on camera the podcast is also on camera, so you must you don't have to do anything, but it's gonna be recorded, so just be ready.

But I think a lot of stuff is recorded on this. Yeah, and Muse is both 528. Yes. So I'm gonna be hanging out there and you can become a podcast guest. If you have a poster, let me know as well. I'm gonna come and visit [00:07:00] your poster whenever I have the bandwidth. Or maybe I can bring your poster. I don't know if you can carry your posters if these are like real posters because at PathVisions, they have virtual posters.

So that's something you could show me on the tablet. But let me know and I'm gonna be checking on the app. 'cause especially very much it's about digital pathology. That's the angle that we're covering here. And we have a little app, not a little app, a little like a chat Facebook. So you can like posts, you can post pictures so people are posting pictures is so cool.

We posted with MUSE as well. And Dr. Levinson. So if you are on the app, I will be active on the app. I saw the app yesterday and I'm like, you can post pictures. Let me post some pictures. So that's it for the update today [00:08:00] because it didn't really start yet. Other than the society meetings. I don't have any groundbreaking news other than I saw the construction site.

Thank you so much for joining. I always very much appreciate everybody who shows up live. See you tomorrow, same time, 7:00 AM and what I'm gonna try to, there's a connector corner near the registration at USCAP for the people who are here. I'm gonna try to stream from there. So if you like waking up at seven in the morning and be part of the dream.

Join me there. I'm gonna be there at 7:00 AM today. Thank you so much. You have a wonderful day. Say hi. When you see me, just touch me and say Hi. I saw whatever your podcast, even if we don't know each other in person, we can just have a conversation and get to know each other in person. So I'm very much looking forward to it.

And without further, you met, get breakfast and coffee. Take care guys.
